Monica Lek went to see Titanic at the age of 7, and nothing was ever the same. Born in Tarragona and raised by her grandmother in Valls, she moved to Barcelona when she was 16 and to New York at 19. There, she quickly positioned herself as one of the best photographers of her generation, capturing names like Al Pacino, Hunter Shaffer, Lily Rose Depp, Emma Stone, among many others. Her films, in the roles of director, writer, and cinematographer, have screened and won awards at festivals all over the world. Some of her longterm clients include Calvin Klein, Shiseido, Apple, HBO, Warp Records, Sony Music (...) She graduated in Art Direction and Advertising from IED and holds a degree in Optical Physics from MIT. After 11 years, she's back home in Barcelona, where she is making her first feature-length film. She's working as a photographer while attending a master's program in AI and pursuing her sommelier degree. She loves playing bass and synth, longboarding, scuba diving, and being with her loved ones under a long red sunset, over the ocean. She enjoys reading sci-fi and spirituality books. She is also a member of the International Cinematographers Guild.
